文摘：“当下主义”为进入21世纪以来莎学领域新兴的研究理论。它反对传统的“历史主
义”研究将“过去”作为完全陌生的时空领域与现当代割裂开来的做法，主张以当代视角
解读莎剧。其批评者认为，当下主义错误地将当代特征加诸过去，导致罔顾史实的解读，
并在文本选择上存在局限性，易造成文学研究的后退。此次讲座将针对这些批评，结合莎
士比亚在其戏剧中的历史本质讨论，分析当下主义的理论基础，并细审其莎学研究实践。
Presentism, “the new kid on the block” in 21st-century Shakespeare Studies,
is a theory that proposes bringing a contemporary perspective on the
playwright and his works. As a challenge to the dominant practice of reading
Shakespeare historically, presentism has often been accused by the literary
establishment of anachronism and conservatism. The lecture shall endeavor to
offer a more balanced analysis of presentism by pointing out the soundness of
its principle (and thus refuting the Establishment’s first criticism) and
inadequacies of its practice (thereby endorsing the second).
主讲人简介：陈星，南京大学外国语学院助理研究员，英国爱丁堡大学英语文学博士。主
要研究方向为英国文艺复兴文学和莎士比亚研究，出版专著Reconsidering Shakespeare’
s “Lateness”: Studies in the Last Plays (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2015
) ，发表多篇期刊论文，主持江苏省社科基金青年项目“莎士比亚末期戏剧中的历史书写
研究”。
