Kenneth Louie is a visiting professor of economics at the Hopkins-Nanjing Center for Chinese and American Studies, where he also taught in 1996-97. He is on the faculty of the Sam and Irene Black School of Business at the Pennsylvania State University at Erie, where he is chairman of the International Business program and a senior research associate of the Economic Research Institute of Erie. Dr. Louie received his B.A. in economics from Northwestern University and his M.S. and Ph.D. in economics from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. In 1998, Dr. Louie was a visiting Fulbright Scholar at the Guangdong University of Foreign Studies in Guangzhou. He has lectured at Nankai and Zhongshan Universities and at the Dongbei University of Finance and Economics.. Dr. Louie's areas of specialization are international economics and the economics of labor markets, and his most recent publications include an analysis of recent U.S. macroeconomic performance, a study of the structure of China's foreign trade, and a survey of the economic and political issues surrounding immigrant workers in the U.S.
