The purpose of the Chair shall be to promote an integrated system of research, training, information and documentation on peace studies. It will facilitate collaboration between high-level, internationally-recognized researchers and teaching staff of the University and other institutions in China as well as elsewhere in Asia and the Pacific, and in other regions of the world.

教席的目的是促进和平学的综合研究、培训、信息和文献的系统性发展。它将促进高水平、国际认可的研究人员与大学以及中国其他机构以及亚洲及太平洋其他地区以及世界其他地区的教学人员之间的合作。

The specific objectives of this Chair are to:

教席的目标是：

• promote the study and awareness of peace within academia and in society. Advocate for the establishment of peace studies as an academic discipline in Chinese universities and higher education institutions;

在学术界和社会中促进对和平的研究和认识。主张在中国的大学和高等教育机构中建立和平学作为一门学科；

• consolidate the university’s curriculum, including by means of a peace studies teacher training programme, undertake research on peace related issues and provide training at undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate level. Facilitate the access of international trainees in these courses;

加强大学课程，包括通过和平学教师培训计划，对与和平有关的问题进行研究并提供本科和研究生水平的培训。并为国际学员参加这些课程创造便利；

• encourage and facilitate peace studies at other universities in the country and the region;

鼓励和促进该国和该地区其他大学的和平研究；

• strengthen cooperation with institutions from other countries and regions notably through joint research projects, courses, seminars and conferences;

• serve as a platform for networking and the sharing of knowledge and good practices. For this purpose, the Chair will establish and maintain a dedicated website, publish conference papers, research results and a handbook on peace research, peace education and peace activities; and,

• collaborate closely with UNESCO and with relevant UNESCO Chairs globally.
